Taste Education: Beets

Kitchen boredom setting in? Want to try something new? Curious for a new recipe?

New in 2017, the Worthington Farmers Market will host a once monthly "Taste Education" event where we will inspire healthy eating, and connect you with your food and its producer(s).

This series will reflect the diversity of our ingredients and the creativity of our dedicated volunteers who prepare them. Samples, recipes, printed information, or the raw ingredients themselves may be a few ways you'll enjoy our "Taste Education" series.

Tomorrow is all about the BEET. Beets are versatile. Beets are nutritious. Beets are controversial. Wait. What? That's right, controversial. You either love 'em or hate 'em.

Beets are rich in nutrients - A, C and carotenes. Use the greens too, and you'll get more vitamin C along with calcium and iron.

And if you love 'em, then you're in luck. Beets are available for most of the year, whether fresh or from storage. And as they store, they become more sweet and delicious!
