Taste Education: Radishes

Kitchen boredom setting in? Want to try something new? Curious for a new recipe?

New in 2017, the Worthington Farmers Market will host a once monthly "Taste Education" event where we will inspire healthy eating, and connect you with your food and its producer(s).

This series will reflect the diversity of our ingredients and the creativity of our dedicated volunteers who prepare them. Samples, recipes, printed information, or the raw ingredients themselves may be a few ways you'll enjoy our "Taste Education" series.

This month, it's all about the radish.

Radishes vary in size, shape, color, and pungency, from the classic cherry-size red to finger-size icicle radishes. There are large black winter radishes and a group of Asian varieties, the most popular being the daikon radish.

The radish root is 94% water and claims modest nutritional value. The greens, however, rank way up there with other dark leafies as an excellent source of vitamin A, C, and the Bs. Radishes are beneficial as blood cleansers and digestive aids as well. In other words, eat the greens!
