Lifestyle Matters. How we eat, move, sleep and manage stress has an enormous impact on health and longevity.

Health Tip #24: Hot chocolate Naturally Boosts Your Immune System

Researchers recently have shown that cocoa in hot chocolate significantly increased natural killer cell activity, an indicator of our bodies natural immune response. Natural killer cells recognize and eliminate influenza virus infected cells in our body to prevent spread of the illness. Hot cocoa was also shown to have a significant anti-inflammatory effect, thus contributing to the elimination of the flu virus. Polyphenols in cocoa are powerful anti-oxidants which have a broad spectrum anti microbial effect in the oropharynx, precisely where the flu virus often takes hold. (1)

The Old Worthington Partnership is pleased to announce that COhatch is furthering its investment in the Worthington community. Together the organizations will continue to drive initiatives to bring positive attention to the historic district, and support professional development and educational seminars for local merchants and business owners. The Partnership also will support soon-to-be-announced COhatch community events geared toward improving the lives of local residents.

COhatch will provide funding, hosting venues and people resources to help design and plan future programs for the community in collaboration with the Old Worthington Partnership.
