Health Tip #36: Foods Proven to Lower Blood Pressure
High blood pressure effects more than 30% of the world adult population!
Sugar, especially fructose in the form of sugar sweetened beverages (soda pop) may be a primary culprit. One of the first steps to decrease this risk is to decrease sugar sweetened beverage intake and processed food intake. The next step is to add foods proven to lower blood pressure to your daily for plan. These include:
1) Chocolate, especially the dark variety which contains significant amounts of flavanols which have been shown to significantly reduce blood pressure and to reduce cardiovascular risk of death by half!
2) Olive oil consumption shown to be associated with 75% lower rate of high blood pressure in men.
3) Beats which are rich in nitrates have been shown to decrease risk of blood pressure by as much as 37%.
4) Garlic has been shown to significantly reduce blood pressure when compared to the pharmaceutical drug atenolol.
5) Watermelon which is rich in potassium and lycopene has also been shown to significantly reduce blood pressure.
