Lifestyle Matters. How we eat, move, sleep and manage stress has an enormous impact on health and longevity.
Health Tip #40: What about food sensitivities?
First of all, they are real, they are common and they can have a significant impact on our health!
I am not referring to "food allergies" which can be acutely life threatening.
Food sensitivities may have a profound effect on gut health/function which can lead to a host of manifestations from auto-immune illnesses like sinusitis, upper respiratory and ear infections, asthma, as well as arthralgias, rashes and even brain fog. The specific foods are at times difficult to identify because the problem/symptoms they cause are not immediately recognizable after eating. The symptoms may take hours to develop.
The most common food sensitivities are to foods like gluten, dairy, corn, sugar, soy and nightshade vegetables. These are commonly found in highly processed foods and fast foods present in the standard American diet.
What can we do ?
First, eat a healthier diet eliminating suspected foods, toxins, preservatives, food dyes and processed or fast foods. Second, eat more real whole foods as grown, mostly plants/greens and drink more clean mineral rich water daily. Finally, add high dose vitamin C and supplemental magnesium as well as a natural good multivitamin and B complex daily.
Be well! See you at the market!
