Fire up that grill after a stop at the Worthington Farmers Market - May 25

It's Grill Time!
The long holiday weekend means picnics, potlucks and gatherings with friends and family. Fire up that grill after a visit to our producers at tomorrow's Worthington Farmers Market!
For the fresh catch of the day, visit Kingdom Fish for all-natural, farm-raised tilapia and other seasonal offerings from Logan County.
If sausage or brats are on the menu, visit Paul at Pastured Providence Farmstead for his link recommendation.
From chicken wings to thighs and drumsticks, Speckled Hen Market has a large selection of poultry and an assortment of spices and rubs for one-stop shopping.
And, for your favorite pork cuts, stop by Stonefield Naturals and ask Al about his Hampshire hogs raised without chemicals, hormones or antibiotics.

This Week's Green Plate Special - Breakfast!
Enjoy breakfast at the Market with this week's Green Plate Special - a breakfast pita specially created by the Pitabilities food truck featuring free-range eggs from Worthington Farmers Market producer, Brown Bros. Farms.
The Green Plate Special is a weekly collaboration between a Market producer and a local food truck that will incorporate the producer's featured product in a special dish, just for the Farmers Market!
$1.00 of every Green Plate Special sold will be donated back to the Worthington Farmers Market to further our mission to "Encourage, support and promote the entrepreneurial efforts of local, independent, and small-scale farmers and food artisans seeking to sell their products directly to consumers."
Find the Green Plate Special at the Pitabilities food truck on the east side of High Street near US Bank during tomorrow's Market.

Open Mic at the Market
9am-11:30am on the United Methodist Church Lawn
Open Mic - In partnership with Worthington United Methodist Church and musician, Chip Woods, the Market hosts a weekly “open-mic” on the lawn of the church. Performers of all ages are welcome to sign in upon arrival beginning at 8:30 AM. Performances will be organized into 15- or 30-minute slots beginning at 9 AM. Space is not guaranteed. We will provide speakers, microphones and cords. All you need is your instrument! (And it doesn’t hurt to bring a connecting cord, too, if you have one.)
Saturday's Featured Performer - Bhargavi (Claire Matlak) at 10 am Bhargavi is a musician, yoga teacher and student of Vendata who was first exposed to kirtan when she took her yoga teacher training at the Sivananda Ashram in the Bahamas. She quickly found her heart captured by the mantras and loves to share them with anyone who would like to listen to the uplifting melodies. Kirtan is traditionally sung in the call-and-response style, and the mantras are sung in the ancient Sanskrit language.

Health Tip #46: Oh My Aching Joints, What to do?
27 million Americans suffer from osteoarthritis/degenerative joint disease primarily in the large weight bearing joints like the knees. The most common response is to take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDS). However, this is minimally effective especially in the long run.
When you consider the potential side effects such as bleeding ulcers, kidney compromise and heart failure, this response is down right dangerous. One medical report indicates there are approximately 7,600 deaths and 76,000 hospitalizations in the U.S. annually from the adverse effects from NSAIDS,mostly stomach bleeding(1).
There are safer effective alternatives like glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate that are naturally occurring nutrients that have been shown to be more effective than NSAIDS for treatment of of moderate knee pain (2)(3).These nutrients help the body naturally repair and form cartilage and give the cartilage increased elasticity. These can be taken in a supplement pill form without a prescription or better yet obtained from real food!(4)
Bone broth, for example, is rich in both glucosamine and chondroitin, as well as having hyaluronic acid and collagen, all which support healthy joint tissue and decrease inflammation.
Think food, first, the next time your joints are aching.
