6 Cool Ways to Beat the Heat Tomorrow

2) Pop over to the gourmet popscicle carts of J-Pops Gourmet Ice Pops and Rime Time Curiously Crafted Pops to taste their small batch, seasonal flavors!

3) Stroll through the Market as you sip on creative, cold-press juice combinations from Native Cold Pressed.

4) Pick up one of the fresh-squeezed juice mixers from Simple Times Mixers for a refreshing afternoon porch sipper.

5) Pay a visit to Kombucha Bob's booth to taste your way to your favorite flavor of his popular Kombu-Tea.

6) Stay cool as a cucumber with the crowd-pleasing pickles from The Crazy Cucumber!

And, icy cold bottled water is available for $1 at the Market Information booth at the corner of High Street and New England. The sales support the Worthington Farmers Market.

Welcome Double Comfort Foods!

July's COhatch Maker at the Market

If it's not already hot enough for you tomorrow, we're turning up the heat with this month's COhatch Maker at the Market - Double Comfort Foods!

Visit them at booth #83, tomorrow, on the lawn of the United Methodist Church, to enjoy a taste of the south with their Memphis-inspired hot sauces and spice blends.

Through the sale of their products, over 110,000 meals have been donated to hunger-relief charities.

Double Comfort opened its doors in 2014 to raise money for local food pantries through the sale of delicious, high quality southern foods based on the flavors of Memphis. That tradition continues today, with all profits from the sale of Double Comfort hot sauces and spice blends going to hunger-relief charities.

Welcome, Double Comfort Foods - a COhatch community member at the Madery at COhatch's Library location in Worthington.

Green Plate Special - Heirloom tomato BLT pita

The Pitabilities food truck is back this week, featuring heirloom tomatoes from Jorgensen Farms in a Market special BLT pita.

Find the Green Plate Special and the Pitabilities food truck on the east side of High Street near US Bank during tomorrow's Market.

The Green Plate Special is a weekly collaboration between a Market producer and a local food truck that will incorporate the producer's featured product in a special dish, just for the Farmers Market! $1.00 of every Green Plate Special sold will be donated back to the Worthington Farmers Market to further our mission.

The Market Wellness Doctor's Weekly Health Tip

Visit Dr. Matt in booth #74, near Dewey's Plaza

Lifestyle Matters. How we eat, move, sleep and manage stress has an enormous impact on health and longevity.

Health Tip #54: Alzheimer's - Preventable? Reversible?

Dr. Dale Bredesen, after three decades of research at his UCLA lab, reports that "Alzheimer's disease can be prevented, and in many cases its associated cognitive decline can be reversed."(1)

Three neuro threats; inflammation, shortage of brain-supporting nutrients/hormones and trophic factors and exposure to toxic substances, result in the brain mounting a protective response that results in the production of the sticky amyloid plaques that destroy brain synapses.

Chronically elevated inflammation is known to be triggered by infections and also by non-infectious stresses, like high sugar foods which damage proteins, and trans fats from processed baked goods and fast foods, as well as gluten and dairy.

Synapse strengthening compounds include: brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) which can be increased with regular exercise, hormones like estradiol and testosterone optimized through bio-identical hormone prescriptions or dietary supplements and nutrients like vitamin D and folate.

Finally, the brain when exposed to toxins like heavy metals and biotoxins, responds protectively by producing amyloid to attempt to bind and inactivate them. Dr. Bredesen's research has shown that identifying and removing the exposure to the toxins and then detoxifying with foods like cruciferous vegetables, pure clean water hydration, sweating and increasing critical anti-oxidants like glutathione results in the brain decreasing production of amyloid with subsequent improvement in cognitive decline.

Get your fresh, organic fruits and veggies at the market this Saturday to improve and protect your brain function!

See you at the Market!
