More to do at the Market!

This week, we welcome young entrepreneur, Aniyah, founder of Lunchbox Luv to our Community Table.
Lunchbox Luv is striving to bring you and your child together, throughout their school day, by letting you remind them how much you LUV them with a little positivity. Enough LUV cards for each school day remind your kids just how special they are!
Lunchbox Luv is a #madestand inspired idea by the challenge to create by Jeni’s Ice Cream founder, Jeni Britton-Bauer.
To see more examples of Aniya's lunchbox LUV notes, give her a follow on her new Instagram account #Luv_your_lunchbox and find her, tomorrow, at booth #37, just outside of Graeter's.
And, be sure to stop by the lawn in front of the United Methodist Church to enjoy the sounds of our Open Mic at the Market performances from 9am-11:30am
The Market Wellness Doctor's Weekly Health Tip
Visit Dr. Matt in booth #74, near Dewey's Plaza
Lifestyle Matters. How we eat, move, sleep and manage stress has an enormous impact on health and longevity.
Health Tip #55: Optimize Your Vitamin D!
Vitamin D affects more than your bones. Vitamin D receptors are present on nearly every cell in our bodies. Our skin naturally produces vitamin D3 when exposed to ultraviolet B radiation (UVB) from sunlight. We also receive vitamin D form some foods and supplements.
Dr.Michael Holick, a prominent vitamin D researcher, recommends blood levels of vitamin D are optimal at between 50-80 ng/ml. The average in white Americans is 25 ng/ml and in African Americans 16 ng/ml. There is good evidence showing that the risk of colon and breast cancers are greatly reduced when vitamin D blood levels are between 25-40 ng/ml.
The increased rate of coronary disease and strokes in the winter, compared to the summer may be associated with reduced vitamin D levels during the winter months. Randomized controlled trials have shown a reduced risk of respiratory infections and influenza associated with vitamin-D supplementation. And, several auto-immune diseases have been shown to occur less frequently in association with sunlight exposure and vitamin D levels. Even reduced mortality rates and increased longevity, by up to 2 years, have been shown to be associated with optimal vitamin-D levels.
In conclusion, daily sun exposure may be more beneficial than dangerous.(1)
See you at the Market!
