Here's What's Fresh at the Worthington Farmers Market this Saturday
Tailgate Finds from our Veggie Spy
Saturday is the first OSU home game, so shop the Market for your tailgate season opener!

Cole slaw is an MVP at the pre-game party, and you can find cabbage at Cottage Garden, Dorans, and Zemecki. And you're sure to score with sweet corn! Visit Dorans, Rhoads, Wenger, and Wishwell for those yummy golden kernels. Nothing will put bigger smiles on your team's faces than watermelon: refreshing, sweet, and even vaguely football-shaped! Road Closure for Market Saturdays
You asked, and we're doing it! The feedback was so positive when we closed a portion of E. New England Avenue during our National Farmers Market Week celebration, we'll be doing it every Saturday during the remainder of the outdoor market season!
From 7:45am to 12:00pm, each Market Saturday, there will be no thru-traffic on E. New England Avenue between the Dewey's Pizza parking lot and High Street.
The Dewey's parking lot and the driveways leading to the parking lots behind House Wine and behind the United Methodist Church will still be accessible from Hartford.
Thank you for observing the road closure during this time.
Re-useable Produce Bags are Here
Volunteers from the Sustainability Committee of the Old Worthington Partnership will be at the Market this Saturday to with smart, easy ways for more sustainable living. Visit them at their booth in the Graeter's parking lot.
And, remember all those fabric donations? Thanks to the generosity of community members, that fabric was turned into re-useable produce bags. Help reduce single-use plastic bags at the Market when you pick up one of these free, re-useable produce bags at the Sustainability Committee booth, tomorrow. Available while supplies last!

Lifestyle Matters. How we eat, move, sleep and manage stress has an enormous impact on health and longevity.
Health Tip #60: Healthy Fats for Optimal Health!
Omega 3 fats have been shown to provide numerous health benefits including lowering mortality, slowing overall aging and brain aging, specifically, improving brain functions like learning, memory, focus and attention. Omega 3 fats have also been shown to reduce inflammation and improve cardiovascular health by increasing HDL (good cholesterol) and decreasing triglycerides.
Omega 3 fats are called essential fats, meaning they are required by our body. We are not able to manufacture them, so they must be obtained through our foods. What foods contain these important healthy fats? Some excellent food sources are cold-water fish, like salmon, cod, mackerel, herring and sardines. Aim for at least 3 servings per week.
The readily available Omega 3 fats, most similar, biologically, to our cells is Krill followed by the triglyceride form of fish oil. The least biologically available is fish oil in the ethyl ester chemical structure which results in poor absorption through the intestines. An additional benefit of Krill is that it contains an antioxidant called astaxanthin which protects the Omega 3 healthy fat, DHA, from oxidative damage. Additionally, asaxanthin enhances immune function, decreases inflammation and may have cardiovascular benefits as well.
See you at the Market!
