Worthington Farmers Market - Last Outdoor Market for the Season!

Fresh Picks from our Veggie Spy

How Long Since You've Had Quince?

Most folks have never tried quince, and they are missing out! This unusual fruit is much better cooked than raw, and its high pectin content makes it ideal for jams and jellies. It works for pies, as well. Leave quince on a sunny windowsill, and it will slowly release a delicate fragrance of vanilla and citrus. You can find quince at Anderson Orchards.

Remember, the Market moves indoors to the Shops Worthington Place starting next Saturday, Novembern 2. There's still plenty of produce in November, so watch for the next Veggie Spy report with all the tasty details!

The indoor Market begins at 9am, one hour later than our outdoor Market. So, sleep in a little and then join us next Saturday, from 9am to 12pm, inside the Shops at Worthington Place on High Street.

It's a Pumpkin Party!

We're celebrating our last Saturday outdoors AND the weekend before All Hallows Eve with a family-friendly Pumpkin Party!

Tomorrow, dress up for the Market and bring your most festive, decorated pumpkin for our pumpkin contest!

To enter, bring your decorated pumpkin to the Market Information booth (corner of E. New England Ave. and High Street) and we'll display it on the small wall fronting the Graeter's parking lot. Shoppers can vote on their favorite during the Market and the winner will receive a Halloween treat! All ages are welcome to enter a decorated pumpkin.

Acoustic Performance by Mark Zonakis - Musician at the Market

Weather permitting, we'll have an encore performance by acoustic guitarist and singer/songwriter, Mark Zonakis.

Born and raised in Columbus, with short stints in California and Arizona, his music invokes a mix of both Midwestern and Western imagery. As a self-taught songwriter, Mark was influenced by folk legends like Nick Drake and Bob Dylan and current artists, Ray Lamontagne and Joe Purdy.

Stop by Dewey's Plaza, tomorrow, between 10am and 12pm to enjoy his unique and soulful sound and to pick up his newly released album!

The Market Wellness Doctor's Weekly Health Tip

Visit Dr. Matt in booth #74, near Dewey's Plaza

Lifestyle Matters. How we eat, move, sleep and manage stress has an enormous impact on health and longevity.

Beneficial Effects of Meditation on Inflammation

Lifestyle interventions like mindfulness, meditation and yoga are shown to improve immune function.

If you struggle with stressful chronic inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease and asthma, there is ever increasing empirical support that meditation is beneficial for such conditions.

Chemical markers of inflammation have shown improvement in studies utilizing mindfulness training and meditation. Yoga has been shown in studies to reduce inflammation across a multitude of chronic inflammatory conditions.(1)

Gut microbiome health has been shown to be adversely affected by increased production of stress hormones. As stress is reduced, the healthy microbiota increase the production of short chain fatty acids which leads to anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor effects.(2)

See you at the Market!
