Fresh Picks from our Veggie Spy
Take a Peek at Leeks!

Leeks are related to onions, but are milder and more mellow. Braising or gently grilling them brings out a sweet and subtle flavor. Leeks are best known for their supporting role in soups, and they are also great for dips, salads, and pasta dishes. Visit Franklinton Farms to get a leek sneak peek!
Remember the Market moves inside the Shops at Worthington Place THIS Saturday. There may be a chill in the air, but there is plenty of local produce available at the Market!

Indoor Market Season is Here!

The indoor market season begins tomorrow! The indoor season of the Worthington Farmers Market begins on the first Saturday of November and runs through the last Saturday in April.
Sleep in an hour later as the indoor market opens at 9am! Join us, inside The Shops at Worthington Place - 7227 N High St, Worthington, OH 43085. More than 65 farmers and artisans producers are waiting to welcome you indoors for the season!
Token Transaction Fee

Effective November 1, due to an increase in fees charged to us by Square (our credit card processor), a $1 transaction fee will be applied to the sales total of our $5 Market tokens. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to absorb this cost and do have to pass along some of that increase. We thank you for your understanding and continued support of our small businesses.
The $1 fee applies to your entire token transaction, and is NOT a per token charge. So, whether you purchase $5 or $50, you only pay the $1 for the transaction. SNAP tokens and Produce Perks tokens are not impacted.

Lifestyle Matters. How we eat, move, sleep and manage stress has an enormous impact on health and longevity.
T'is the Season for Stress
Stress is arguably the most significant toxin confronting patients on a daily and long-term basis.(1) Current thinking theorizes that chronic, long-term stressful events may induce chronic up regulation of the sympathetic nervous system with associated hormonal changes that ultimately may impair optimal immune function. Recent research suggests that persistent, long-term stress and worry may contribute to imbalance in the body ranging from asthma to cancer to heart disease.(2)
Both the rates of autoimmune diseases and stress levels across the globe have increased exponentially over the last decade. The National institutes of Health estimates that 25 to 50 million American suffer from autoimmune diseases and the prevalence is rising.(3)
A study in JAMA 2018 provided evidence that stress related disorders are significantly associated with autoimmune disease.(4)
The logical question is what stress reducing interventions may positively affect the immune system and prevent immune imbalance? Lifestyle trends such as decreasing consumption of processed foods and alcohol while increasing restorative sleep as well as psychological interventions such as cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness and relaxation training have been shown to effectively reduce stress.(5) Evidence is accumulating that healthy lifestyle interventions combined with mind-body interventions seems to help alter the course of stress and improve the new balance.
See you at the Market!
