Calling All Mochi Lovers! Beat the Winter Blues. Plan Your Garden With 9N Farm. Arugula Adventures!

The planned construction timeline will allow us to return to The Shops at Worthington Place (intersection of N. High Street and W. Wilson Bridge Rd.) on Saturdays, February 5th through March 26th, 9am - Noon. These are typically the coldest months in Ohio, and we're grateful to our friends at the Shops for providing a comfortable and warm farmers market shopping experience.

Veggie Spy & Versatile Vegan

Don’t Fear Arugula!

Arugula greens were once considered super trendy and a bit hoity-toity for us common folk. But now they are quite mainstream -- even Chick-fil-A has arugula in their salads! And why not? They are aromatic with a bright and peppery flavor, don’t wilt like other greens, are easy to prepare, and are extremely nutritious.

There are over 30 varieties of arugula, and the level of pepperiness can vary. Some have a nutty flavor as well. And baby leaves tend to be milder. Bottom line – ask for a sample!

Arugula originated in the Mediterranean region and has been harvested for at least 2500 years. It is even mentioned in the Old Testament of the Bible. The ancient Romans considered it an aphrodisiac. Today arugula is common in salads, pasta, and many other dishes.

You can find arugula at Rock Dove. Arugula microgreens have a more intense flavor and are more nutrient dense. Get them at Rock Dove and Jorgensen.

The Versatile Vegan suggests you get apples from Gillogly and make this Apple Arugula Salad. Or warm up a chilly day with Creamy Vegan Arugula Soup. Another name for arugula in Australia is rocket. Try this delicious Rocket and Cashew Spread from down under. It’s great for sandwiches and crackers!

There are other greens at this week’s market. Franklinton Farms plans to have spinach, kale, Swiss chard, and maybe Senposai. Seven Acre Farm has many types of microgreens, including mixes.

Other Finds

Check out Mayapple Farms for three types of oyster mushrooms. King are dense, Gray Dove are delicate, and Black are in between.

Franklinton Farms has radishes and turnips. Jorgensen has garlic.

Gillogly (outside, near the South entrance and in front of Talbot's) has several varieties of apples and also Bosc pears.

If you are in the mood for chocolate (isn’t everybody?), try the Cocoa Peanut Butter that Shell Dust recently introduced. Turkish bakery Tulip Café has Turkish pistachios, which many aficionados prefer over the California ones usually found here.

You can find Foraged and Sown teas and herbal salts at the Rock Dove booth.

Congratulations, Pawson Dog Treat Co.!

We did a thing! The big announcement we've been dying to share!!

We bought a building, and our little home business is about to put on its big kid pants. Our building, on Main St. in Groveport, Ohio, needs A LOT of love. But for those of you who know us, you know we’ll have this baby in ship shape and looking adorable in no time! We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us and no opening date at this time.

We promise to keep you posted as we work to make this previously unloved building into the first eco-friendly pet shop and bakery in Ohio.

Can we get a woof-woof?!

Producers are grouped by category: Produce, Baked Goods, Meat Eggs & Dairy, and Specialty Items/Prepared Foods, with a few vendors operating outdoors.
