Destination Sweet Spot! Veggie Spy & Versatile Vegan Return. Valentine Gifts & Girl Scout Cookies!

Stock Up for Valentine's Day!

Join us February 12th and find that special something for all your special someones!
The planned construction timeline will allow us to return to The Shops at Worthington Place (intersection of N. High Street and W. Wilson Bridge Rd.) on Saturdays, February 5th through March 26th, 9am - Noon. These are typically the coldest months in Ohio, and we're grateful to our friends at the Shops for providing a comfortable and warm farmers market shopping experience.
We're counting the hours . . . how 'bout you?!
Veggie Spy & Versatile Vegan Are Back!
Get Comfy with Veggies!
When the snow, sleet, cold, and general dreariness get to you, there may be no better antidote then hunkering down at home and getting comfy. Sometimes you want to be well inside your comfort zone! Comfort food and drink will brighten any gray day. And even of the depths of winter you can find lots of fresh produce at the Market to help enjoy full comfy mode.

SNAP/EBT Customers: Produce Perks aren't just for summer! Use your stash of those shiny green coins to purchase fresh produce at the Market all year long!
Here’s a few veggie comfort food suggestions from the Versatile Vegan.

What could comfier than having dessert for breakfast? Grab some peanut butter from Shell Dust, then make these vegan Peanut Butter Cookies and delight your kids when they least expect it.

And while your already in sweet stuff for breakfast mode, another winner is these Apple Fritter Rings. Get the apples from Gillogly, in the parking lot at the North entrance to the mall. And you can make the dipping sauce with maple syrup from Pleiades.

Lo Mein used to be a staple of Chinese restaurants and is still fairly easy to find. The slight sweetness, stickiness, and lack of spiciness makes it a comfort food for many of us. Though the American version of Lo Mein bears little resemblance to the original Chinese dish, you can still make a yummy and healthy version yourself with this recipe for Vegetarian Lo Mein with Shiitakes, Carrots & Bean Sprouts. You can get the shiitakes from Mayapple Farms.
Everybody loves risotto. For this variation, Farro Risotto with Butternut Squash and Kale, you can substitute acorn squash from 9N (limited availability) for the butternut. And grab kale at Franklinton Farms.

We’re fortunate to have excellent bagels at the Market thanks to Wootown Bagels. A bagel is great with jam, especially if it’s one of Sweet Things Gourmet new cocktail inspired flavors like Cherry Manhattan, which has bourbon and amaretto-soaked tart cherries. Yum!
There’s plenty of greens at the Market including those from Franklinton Farms, 9N, Jorgensen, and Rock Dove. There are also an interesting variety of microgreens at Seven Acre Farm. Soup may be the ultimate comfort food, and there’s plenty of recipes that include greens. Grab some spinach, arugula, and garlic for this Spinach and Arugula Soup! You can substitute in vegan butter if you wish.

And if comfort for you means staying out of the kitchen, there’s vegan chili from Red Barn Chili. Try a sample and taste for yourself!
Enjoy!
Congratulations, Red Moon Ranch!

Many of you have asked, and if you didn't already scoop the news from her social channels, Shelby and Doug from Red Moon Ranch welcomed Douglas Allen III into their family on February 1. Both Mom and baby are doing well, and we look forward to seeing them back at the Market soon!
