Happy New Year! Counting the Days to Feb 5! Meanwhile, Order Online. A Visit to Patty's Kitchen.

Now that the holiday season has wrapped up, we’re taking a few weeks to solidify an indoor Market location for our coldest months - February and March - and put some new ideas into place for our 2022 Market season. Watch our website, newsletter and social media accounts for an announcement with our indoor Market location.

Meanwhile . . . Order Online!

Between now and when the Market re-opens on February 5, you can still support our Market producers. Several stores throughout the Columbus area carry our producers’ products, including City Folk’s Farm Shop, Beechwold Farm Market, Global Gallery, Bexley Natural Market, Lucky’s Market, Hill’s Market and Weiland’s Market.

Some producers have online stores and offer local pick-up or home delivery. You can search for producers, products and those that offer purchase options beyond the Worthington Farmers Market using our online producer directory here: https://www.worthingtonfarmersmarket.com/vendors

Tamales Any Day of the Week? Yes, Please!

WFM Market Manager Christine Hawks recently visited Patty's Kitchen and shared her experience with us . . .

Formerly known as Columbas (and there is a family food truck that still operates under that name), you know Patty/Columbas for their homemade tamales, available Saturdays at the Worthington Farmers Market (re-opening on February 5th). To keep up with the growing demand for her tamales and to expand service of some of her other Mexican comfort food specialties, Patty has now opened a brick-and-mortar carry-out location, Patty's Kitchen, just outside of Worthington. Missing my weekly Saturday morning tamale breakfast, I made my first visit to Patty's Kitchen this week. They had several specials posted, and I asked Patty to recommend her favorite. She had just finished a pot of Caldo de Res, a rustic, slow simmered beef soup with huge pieces of spoon-tender beef, carrots, potatoes and cabbage in a perfectly seasoned broth. She recommended enjoying with a scoop of rice and homemade corn tortillas for sopping up the broth. Perfect for this week's chilly temperatures! We also ordered the steak street tacos and a cheese and a chicken empanada, freshly fried upon ordering. In the spirit of Sheetz, their kitchen is serving up fresh to order food in the back of the North Meadows carry-out at 5900 North Meadows Drive off of 161 (towards Worthington and on the opposite side of Busch Blvd.) Patty's Kitchen is open 7 days a week with winter hours as follows: M-Sat 9am to 5:30 pm and Sun 9am-4pm. Breakfast and daily specials are available. Order online for a speedy pick-up. No delivery, yet, but they are working to offer that. And, yes, Patty's signature tamales are always available at this location, fresh or frozen.
