Last Call for Asparagus

It's nearly time to bid a fond farewell to these bright green (and also purple!) stalks that mark the start of spring produce season. Memorial Day weekend is typically the last cutting for several of our growers. Grab a bundle or two this Saturday for a simple grilled or roasted accompaniment to your holiday weekend fixings.

Strawberry Season Continues

Ripe and juicy strawberries - perfect for pies, preserves or right out of your palm! Find them at Rhoads Farm this Saturday (near Dewey's Pizza patio). Rock Dove Farm (near US Bank) may also have first of the season berries - weather dependent.

The Veggie Spy and Versatile Vegan enjoyed a well-deserved weekend off and will continue their veggie investigations and preparations in next week's newsletter!

VFW Poppy Day at the Market

For Memorial Day weekend, support veterans with the purchase of a poppy or give a donation. This Saturday, volunteers from the Paul W. Tibbets Memorial VFW

Post 2385 in Worthington will host our Community Table in support of their annual Memorial Day weekend poppy sale.

Excerpt from www.vfw.org

"...The first poppy distribution by the VFW was in 1922 becoming the first veterans' organization to organize a nationwide distribution. The poppy soon was adopted as the official memorial flower of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, as it remains today.

During our 1923 encampment, we decided that VFW "Buddy"® Poppies would be assembled by disabled and needy veterans who would be paid for their work to provide them with financial assistance.

Today, our Buddy Poppies are still assembled by disabled and needy veterans in VA Hospitals.

The VFW Buddy Poppy program provides compensation to the veterans who assemble the poppies, provides financial assistance in maintaining state and national veterans' rehabilitation and service programs..."

Can I Bring My Dog to the Outdoor Market?

Well-socialized and well-behaved dogs are welcome to accompany visitors to the Worthington Farmers Market.

We ask that pet owners abide by these rules to make a pet’s visit to the Market a good experience for everyone:

  • Pets must be kept on a short leash.

  • Pets must be under control and by the owner’s side at all times.

  • Keep pets away from produce, plants, and other food products.

  • Pets must be friendly with other pets and people of all ages.

  • Be considerate—not everyone loves your pet; some customers are fearful and others are allergic to animals.

  • Please clean up after your pet.

Current Operational Guidelines

  • Space between vendor booths has increased to ensure maximum aisle width. Form lines in empty spaces next to booths to allow other pedestrians to pass and keep traffic flowing in the main aisles and sidewalks.

  • No food/beverage samples from vendors.

  • Please enjoy food and beverages in designated outdoor dining areas only.

  • Sanitize your hands often. Hand sanitizer stations will be located throughout the Market space.

  • Only touch the products that you intend to buy. Or, allow the farmer or food maker to select your products for you.

  • All extracurricular activities (music at the market, busking, Market Sprouts, cooking demonstrations, etc.) have been cancelled until further notice.

And, remember, if you have a fever or if you are not feeling well, please stay home.

Thank you for your continued support, cooperation and patience!

The Worthington Partnership is pleased to announce that COhatch is furthering its investment in the Worthington community. Together the organizations will continue to drive initiatives to bring positive attention to the historic district, and support professional development and educational seminars for local merchants and business owners. The Partnership also will support soon-to-be-announced COhatch community events geared toward improving the lives of local residents.

COhatch will provide funding, hosting venues and people resources to help design and plan future programs for the community in collaboration with the Old Worthington Partnership. You will also see the COhatch airstream trailer, a multi-purpose office on wheels named "Mobi" at various events.

Thanks to COhatch for bringing energy and resources to Old Worthington! We are thrilled to work even more closely together to enhance the Old Worthington experience.
