Linworth School Community Garden - Native Plant Sale

We're excited to host local high school students from the Linworth Experiential Program in support of their fundraiser for the Linworth School Community Garden on May 6!

In collaboration with the Worthington Farmers Market, students will experience a taste of entrepreneurship through the sale of native plants that they have grown from seed, tended and readied for market!

Proceeds from the plant sale will go towards improving the existing deer fencing and the installation of a garden gate.

Find them in Booth #21 in front of the Old Worthington Inn at the southwest corner of High Street and New England Avenue.

Mother's Day Gifts at the Market Mercantile

Does your mom love the Worthington Farmers Market? We get it!

Market gift certificates and canvas tote bags make great gifts for any occasion. Stop by the information booth in front of the Graeter's/House Wine parking lot at the corner of High & New England to purchase.

Recycling Done Right

We are so grateful to The Worthington Partnership Green Team for their work on the new recycling lids you'll see throughout the outdoor market!

Looking for Parking for the Farmers Market?

Our friends at Fresh Thyme Market have generously offered the rear (west) portion of their parking lot on Saturdays to Worthington Farmers Market customers. Just park and stroll down High Street. The Market begins just south of 161 on the Southeast and Southwest Village Greens and extends south to the Worthington Post Office. There's plenty to explore along the way!

Please reserve the front portion of the Fresh Thyme parking lot for their shoppers and delivery drivers, as noted on the photo, above.

Veggie Spy & Versatile Vegan

Welcome to the Summer Market!

May 6 brings the beginning of the Summer Market - more variety, more fun, and (finally) warmer weather! The Market starts at 8am and here are some delights to enjoy!

Strawberries

Tilley Farmstead has strawberries! They will sell out quickly, so try to be there by the opening bell. Don’t worry if you miss out this time – there will be lots more strawberries later in the season!

Green Garlic

Green garlic is a garlic plant harvested before it fully matures. They typically have a small bulb or none at all. Garlic is planted in late fall, before the first frost. By spring, green garlic is popping up. Producers will remove some green garlic so the remaining garlic plants will grow larger. Green garlic looks very similar to spring onions (aka scallions), but one little sniff will tell you if it’s green garlic!

Green garlic has a wonderful garlic flavor that is less intense than mature garlic bulbs. The Versatile Vegan suggests trying this yummy and easy recipe for Green Garlic Noodles. Or make Arugula Green Garlic Pesto using arugula and spinach available from several market producers. Green garlic and mushrooms are excellent together. You can prove it by getting oyster mushrooms from Mayapple Farms and making these Green Garlic Oyster Mushrooms. You can get green garlic at Sippel Family Farm, and 9N Farm.

Other Finds

Franklinton Farms has Italian Dandelion greens, which are actually a type of chicory that is popular in salads in Italy. They will also have yakina savoy, leeks, collards, and possibly some celery. Leek lovers should also check out Seven Acre Farm for leek microgreens Raber Family Organics has green onions. Kohlrabi fans should head to 9N Farm and Raber. Get rhubarb at Raber and Sippel Family Farm. Get tender baby spinach at Rock Dove. Ramps season is still with us – get them at Blue Owl and Marion Mushrooms. If you want to enjoy the flavor of ramps year round, try the Ramp Herbal Salt from Foraged & Sown. Beautiful things can come in little packages, like the lovely small jar bouquets from Mohican Flower Farm!

Producers have the following available this week. In some cases, items may sell out before the Market ends.

Apples, Arugula, Bok Choy, Cabbage Raab, Chives, Cider , Cilantro, Collards, Celery (limited) Herbs - various, Italian Dandelion Greens, Kale, Kohlrabi, Leeks, Lettuce, Greens mixes, Microgreens & shoots, Mushrooms – multiple varieties, , Nettle, Parsley, Radishes, Ramps, Rhubarb, Rosemary, Sorrel, Spinach, Strawberries (limited), Swiss Chard, Turnips, Yakina Savoy.

"Summer" market hours, 8am to Noon, begin in May and run through October.

J-POPS

THANK YOU FOR 10 YEARS! A decade ago we began selling Columbus’ Original Handcrafted Ice Pops from our very first cart. We are extremely grateful for everyone who has supported us over the years. Thanks for POPin’ by our many farmers markets, festivals and private events. We have some really cool things planned to celebrate this summer so stay tuned for details!

Get ready to find the Golden STICKet!

To mark our milestone 10th birthday and to thank loyal fans of Columbus’ Original Handcrafted Ice Pops, “J-POPS 10” golden sticks will be randomly placed in pops throughout May thru August. If a guest finds a “STICKet” in their purchased pop, they can redeem it for a prize. Good luck and let’s get POPin’!

The Local Grind

With Mother's Day a few weeks away, we've got you covered with a handmade, facial-care gift box. Mom's especially put their kids needs before their own. Show Mom how thankful you are by giving the gift of self-care!

For a limited time, you can pick up your gift box at the Worthington Farmer's Market May 6 and May 13th.

Sweet Thing Gourmet

This Saturday kicks off our 21st season at the Worthington Farmers Market! Except we won’t be there to celebrate it, and we won’t be at the Clintonville market either. Want to know why? Because we will be in Athens, Ohio, celebrating the COLLEGE GRADUATION of a daughter who was two years old way back when we started! We trust you’ll give us a pass on this one, and we’ll see you the following week at our normal locations. Maybe with a college grad in tow…

BYOWB -- Bring Your Own (Water) Bottle

While visiting the market this Saturday, The Worthington Partnership and The Worthington Partnership Green Team invite you to use the new public water fountain and bottle filling station installed on the Southwest Village Green. It even has a designated fountain/bowl for dogs!

Our team is excited to offer this sustainable resource to help reduce the number of plastic water bottles used in Worthington that add to the landfill.

Thank you to the City of Worthington Government for supporting us on this sustainability project and thank you to The Worthington Partnership Green Team for working so hard to raise the funds to make it happen!

Don't forget to "BYOWB" on Saturday. Bottled water will no longer be sold at the market information booth.
