Lifestyle Matters. How we eat, move, sleep and manage stress has an enormous impact on health and longevity.

Health Tip #39: Make Food/Herbs Your Medicine

Many herbs that we think of as seasonings have potent medicinal effects. Chinese and Indian cultures for thousands of years have been preparing complex cuisines with a variety of herbs that heal the body and please the palate. The carrot and parsley family make up a huge family of edible plants and good tasting medicines.

Parsley, cilantro, coriander, fennel, anise, cumin and dill are well known members of this health promoting group of herbs. These herbs have been shown to be effective for a variety of ailments such as high blood pressure, intestinal gas, libido, colic, amenorrhea, osteoporosis, allergies, and hives as well as having anti-microbial and anti-oxidant effects. Together the organizations will continue to drive initiatives to bring positive attention to the historic district, and support professional development and educational seminars for local merchants and business owners. The Partnership also will support soon-to-be-announced COhatch community events geared toward improving the lives of local residents.

COhatch will provide funding, hosting venues and people resources to help design and plan future programs for the community in collaboration with the Old Worthington Partnership.
